Letter to Charlie Crist Florida Governor Campaign on PIP and Massage

Dear Crist Campaign,

I am wondering what Mr. Crist’s position is with respect to changes to the PIP laws last year, passed by one vote and pushed through by Gov. Scott, which took aim directly at Massage Therapists and Acupuncturists, as well as to a lesser degree Chiropractors.

Instead of fighting fraud by going after criminals, the law excluded massage therapists from participating at all in the PIP system. Now people who are injured in car accidents with Florida policies can’t get massage to heal their soft tissue injuries.

Massage therapy, prescribed by physicians, is highly effective for treating these injuries including whiplash, herniated discs, muscles spasms, etc. yet Floridians can no longer get the treatment prescribed by their doctors because of the law.

It’s not good for citizens and its not fair to specific State Licensed health care practitioners. It’s pretty great for the insurance companies however. No wonder Rick Scott loves this law. It’s an outrage actually.

Will Mr. Crist be seeking to change this law to end the discrimination and harm being done to Floridians?

I and the other 50,000 Licensed Massage Therapists and many thousands of Acupuncturists would like to know so we can decide if we want to passionately support Mr. Crist in his campaign.

Thank you.
