Does your health insurance cover massage therapy?
We get many calls from people interested in learning whether or not their health insurance covers massage therapy.
With the exception of HMOs and Medicare which generally do not pay for massage therapy, in many other cases benefits are available if there is a prescription from a treating physician. Also, those who have been injured in an automobile accident are usually covered by state mandated Personal Injury Protection, or "PIP", which provides a minimum of $10,000 in medical claims benefits, including massage therapy from a licensed provider.
Body Well, both independently and through partnerships with other providers, has the ability to provide insurance-paid therapeutic massage in the convenience of our client's own home every day of the week, often at no cost to the insured party. If you or someone you know has a health condition that could benefit from massage therapy or if your physician has already prescribed it and you are interested in receiving in home treatment, please call us or fill out our form online and we can determine if benefits are available.
As massage therapy continues to gain acceptance in the medical community, we hope that we will see increased coverage, even from HMOs and Medicare, so that everyone, including those of limited economic means and the eldery who can benefit from therapeutic massage so profoundly, can take advantage of this form of natural healthcare.
